Prestvik mainly works with business legal and strategic advice within the above-mentioned business areas, with a clear emphasis on real estate.
Prestvik has been head of CMS Kluge's department for real estate from 2008 to 2012 and is a highly recognized lawyer in the field of real estate law. He has broad expertise in all aspects of development projects and works mainly with advice related to land acquisition development, rental and sale of real estate and real estate companies.
Knut Prestvik has been a co-author of "Getting The Deal Trough - Real Estate" from 2011 to 2014, which is an international publication where Prestvik is responsible for the Norwegian contribution.
REAL ESTATE / CONSTRUCTION
Prestvik has assisted clients in land acquisition, handling of public authorities, development, financing, rental and sale of a number of commercial and residential real estate projects in and around Stavanger in Rogaland. He also has experience with similar activities in Oslo, Trondheim, Bergen, Tromsø and Hammerfest. His experience is significant, and Prestvik has built up a unique commercial expertise in addition to the legal expertise in this field. This means that Prestvik is largely hired, not only as a legal, but also as a strategic, partner of his clients in this branch of jurisprudence. Prestvik is often involved early in a project and he regularly assists his clients in commercial negotiations related to the project.
Prestvik works mostly for property developers and property owners. Nevertheless, he also assists contractors and tenants in some contexts, and also has experience from their point of view.
GENERAL CONTRACT LAW, OTHER TYPES OF CONTRACTS
Prestvik has handled contract negotiations and dispute resolution in many ICT projects, both for the supplier and the ordering side. He also has considerable experience in construction law, has prepared a number of construction agreements and followed up construction projects, including in several disputes. Furthermore, Prestvik has considerable experience with assistance to a car dealership business in relation to operations, dealership agreements, competition law and in acquisitions and mergers. He assists players who engage in tender-based contracting, and also has experience with public procurement from both customer and supplier points of view.
CORPORATE (ACQUISITIONS AND MERGERS)
Prestvik has carried out contract negotiations and transactions for a number of clients in many different industries, including the acquisition of a construction company and the acquisition and sale of a number of car dealer companies in different parts of the country. Prestvik also works to some extent with mergers and reorganisations and has assisted in e.g. a reorganization of real estate portfolio in Western Norway.
TAX / VAT
Prestvik does not have this as its main area of work, but also has general experience in the most common issues within VAT and tax in connection with construction and real estate projects. Among other things, Prestvik has expertise in the adjustment rules for letting, as well as for development agreements, order requirements and construction of facilities for handover to the public sector. He is involved in tax issues typically in negotiations on the valuation of tax positions in connection with the purchase and sale of real estate through real estate companies.

Prestvik has experience of working with public clients, even though the bulk of the clientele is privately owned.
DISPUTE RESOLUTION
Prestvik litigates an average of two to three trials a year. He has experience in dispute resolution both as a lawyer in court proceedings and in arbitration. He has also been a deputy judge and has experience as both a judge and a broker in court mediation.
