Intellectual Property

We have been advising clients on ICT and IP law for many years, and our lawyers include leading experts and PhDs in the field.

The group is involved in all aspects of intellectual property work, from industrial rights, including patents, designs and trademarks, to art and culture, where copyright plays a key role. We also focus on media law matters, as well as cases concerning protection against imitations and protection of trade secrets, etc., under the Marketing Act. Our lawyers provide a broad range of assistance, including the safeguarding of rights, along with the development, implementation and evaluation of IPR strategies as part of a client's business strategy, assistance with contract negotiations, as well as dispute resolution.

Kluge also offers assistance in close and integrated cooperation with Håmsø Patent Office, recently ranked 8th on the Financial Times patent office Europe Ranking, in order to provide IP assistance beyond what is normally offered by a law firm. Håmsø Patent Office is closely integrated in the assistance we offer in all cases where a more expansive and comprehensive IP perspective is necessary – within all relevant areas of assistance, such as general IP strategic advice, litigation, M&A and even assistance in drafting contracts.

Within ICT law, we have practical experience with all ICT standard forms of agreement (the Norwegian Government's Standard Terms and Conditions (""SSA""), the Norwegian Computer Society and IKT-Norge), and especially comprehensive knowledge and extensive experience from use of the SSA agreements, including the 2009 and 2015 versions.

In addition, we have in-depth knowledge of the contractual frameworks applied by Microsoft, Oracle, IBM and SAP, and have assisted a number of clients with licence revisions. We are extensively involved with various types of cloud solutions. The group has broad experience with Anglo-American contracts. The group also assist a number of telecommunications sector clients with various types of contracts.

The group serves a broad range of industries, including oil and energy, technology and manufacturing, fisheries, media, entertainment, art and culture, academia, architecture, IT and software, as well as design and communications.

They are very professional and conduct their duty in a highly ethical manner. They challenge you as a customer to achieve the best possible objectives for your case.
